Our story
Thirty years spent answering one question: what was actually agreed?
Group of Nations is a publisher. Not an agency, not a conference organiser, not a newswire. We produce the volume of record for the world’s summits, and we have done it since Denver.
The founding
June 1997, the Denver Public Library
The 23rd G7/G8 summit, hosted by President Clinton, and the first at which Russia participated fully. It was also the first summit in history to have its own publication — ours. Nothing about that was obvious at the time. Summit coverage was, and largely still is, written in advance: predictions, then twenty-four hours of headlines, then nothing.
The archive of what leaders had committed to existed only in communiqué language that almost nobody outside the sherpa process could read. We built a publishing house around the opposite discipline. Go back afterwards. Translate the communiqué out of negotiating language. Measure this summit’s promises against the last one’s. Say plainly what the presidency achieved and what it quietly dropped. Then print it properly, so it survives.
Our editions end up in ministries, universities and institutional archives rather than in recycling.
Our mission
To make what was decided legible — and permanent.
Global problems are solved by organisations that can be found in the record. Our job is to make sure the record exists, that it is accurate, and that the companies doing the work are visible inside it.
Thirty years, in six moments
Denver
Group of Nations publishes the first-ever G7 Summit publication, for the Denver Summit of the Eight.
The G20 era
The leaders’ process begins; our G20 review starts a run that now covers every presidency.
APEC
The Official APEC Review is published for the United States host year in Honolulu.
The business track
The Official B20 Review begins with Germany, later produced with the London School of Economics.
Climate
COP26 coverage is carried inside the G20 Italy and APEC editions; the standalone COP Review follows.
America250
An authorized licensee of America250.org, Inc. and official publication partner of the U.S. Semiquincentennial.
What makes us different
01
We published the first one
The first-ever G7 Summit publication, Denver 1997. Every other summit title in existence came after ours.
02
We cover all seven tracks
G7, G20, B20, W20, APEC, COP and America250. No other publication does this across the full set.
03
We publish afterwards
The review is produced once the leaders have gone home, so it reports outcomes rather than expectations.
04
We keep the scorecard
Promised against delivered, cycle after cycle. It is the accounting nobody else maintains.
05
We are an America250 licensee
An authorized licensee of America250.org, Inc. and official publication partner of the U.S. Semiquincentennial.
06
Your story sits inside it
Not beside the record. Inside it — which is why a page in one edition outlives a year of impressions.
